*As per SA Softball Masters Association’ Constitution:
5 (a) To afford and encourage any person who has attained the age of 35 years, the means of social interchange and recreation.
7.1 Membership shall be confined to ex-softballers, being of an age not less than 35 years old, and excluding current National Players.
(No player may play if born after 22 Sep 1971)
7.4 Competition Rules
7.4(a) Registered players for a tournament must be present from Day 1 (one) (No fresh legs
will be permitted during the tournament).
7.4(b) Masters will allow a maximum of 18 players and a minimum of 12 players for any tournament.
9.3 Suspended Members. SASMA abides by the rulings addressed in the SSA Constitution. Any member suspended from playing, umpiring, managing or coaching softball by SSA is automatically suspended from SASMA.
*No jewellery may be worn.
*No smoking or drinking of alcoholic beverages is permitted— includes the players’ bench during a game.
*Only an official white softball may be used for the games—no yellow balls allowed at all!
*All batters/runners must keep their helmets on all way around the diamond. If the helmet is deliberately removed, the batter/runner will be called out!
Games
*Games will be played for 1 hour only, complete the frame. (No reverting)
Final frame to commence if 10 mins remain on the clock
*If a team is more than 10 runs ahead in the 5th frame, complete the frame if necessary and the umpire may call time.
*The main umpire is in charge of the game
*If light hampers continuance of the game – (as if there were no interruption) the game will continue from last completed frame with the same players in same positions, with same batting line-up with same score line, umpires and scorers the following day at 07:30 until completed.
*If it starts to rain—games continue under the Technical Head’s discretion—come—off if there’s thunder ‘n lightening—continue when thunder and lightening stop.
Points
* 3 points for a win
* 1 point each for a draw
*In the Event of a Draw for Cut-Offs … in this order
Team with most points goes through, still a draw, then
Team with most runs for goes through, still a draw, then
Team with least runs against goes through.
If still a draw— when teams played each other—the team that won goes through.
In the event of rain, one full round will determine the outcome of the Tournament.
*Infringement of Rules If a team is suspended or in any way penalised for infringement of the rules; only the team causing the infringement is penalised. Thus all games played – all scores will be recognised.
If a team does not pitch for / defaults a game, the team forfeits its right to a final placing – this means that the team continues and completes the entire fixture of the tournament; so as not to penalise the other teams, the opposing teams’ points and runs for and against will be counted as if a normal game was played. When the final positions are read; the team will be read as disqualified.

All problems or disciplinary problems will be dealt with immediately after the game by the
